Enrollment for the first term of the BetterPress Society will be open from September 27 to October 8th, 2023. During that period, retailers who'd like to join can sign up by clicking the button below and filling out the sign up form.

What is BetterPress Society?

BetterPress Society is a monthly subscription of exclusive BetterPress plates designed for independent retailers. Each month, society members will receive a new press plate that isn’t available anywhere else, as well as project inspiration and images.

Each independent retailer participating in the society will need to sign up in advance for a 6-month commitment of the number of plates you’d like to receive each month. The first round of BetterPress Society membership will run from January through June 2024.

Who can be a member of the BetterPress Society?

The BetterPress Society was created for independent retailers. The products will not be offered on SpellbindersPaperArts.com, to distributors nor to other national online retailers.

How many plates do I need to sign up for?

Each retailer must commit to a minimum of six plates per month.

What are the costs of the plates?

Each plate will have an MSRP of $29.99, but society members will be able to purchase them for a flat rate of $12.00 each.

How do I price the plates for customers who sign up?

To keep the program fair for all, the club should be priced at $24.99/month USD, $34.99 CAN.

Can I discount it further?

No. Again, to keep the program fair for all, we request that the $24.99 price is consistent across all retailers. That said, we encourage you to customize the program for your customers. That may mean bundling the plates with other products, a free class, or some other type of value-added benefit.

Do I need to pay for all six months in advance?

No, you’ll pay for each month’s plates as they are released.

How are we handling shipping costs?

In order to help with the cost of shipping, you’ll be able to place an order that includes the BetterPress Society plate as well as other products. 

On the first of each month, you’ll receive an email letting you know the SKU number for the plate of the month and that it is available. You’ll have a window of 3 days to add your committed number of BetterPress plates to an order with additional items. Once the window closes, any members who do not place an order with their plates will be issued a separate invoice that cannot be combined with other orders. It is expected that the invoice will be paid for within a week; if it is not, the stock will go back to inventory and your society membership will be terminated.

As an example for February:

• February 1^st – BetterPress Society members will receive an email letting them know the SKU for that month’s plate
• February 1-4^th – BetterPress Society members must pay for their orders. They can at this time add other items to their order.
• February 5-6^th – Any Society member that has not yet submitted their plate order will be emailed an invoice for their monthly quantity. Note that at this time, no other items can be added to the order.
• February 10^th – All plates shipped.
• February 15^th – Any outstanding invoices not yet paid will be cancelled, their membership terminated, and inventory will go to general stock.
• February 20^th – Any extra stock will become available on the wholesale website at a price of $15/plate for non-Society members, and $12 for members.

How can I get free shipping?

Orders over $300 qualify for free domestic shipping. As long as you order your BetterPress Society monthly plates during the open window, you can add additional items to your order to qualify for free shipping.

Can I combine my BetterPress Society order with another order to save on tariffs and shipping?

You’ll have the opportunity to add additional items to the order that includes your BetterPress society monthly plate, but due to our growing business, we are unable to combine orders placed separately.

Can I order more after my initial commitment?

Spellbinders will likely order a small quantity of additional plates above and beyond what is already reserved for subscribers. Any additional inventory will be made available on the Spellbinders Wholesale website for $15.00 after membership orders have been fulfilled. BetterPress Society members will be able to order additional plates at the membership rate of $12.00 as inventory allows.

Will there be upsells to go along with the plates?

Yes! The Spellbinders design team is already working on additional products to coordinate with the monthly plate. Though we won’t have these every month, we will recommend add-ons from existing stock that would make good complements to the monthly plate.

Coordinating products will be made available to society members at the same time as the monthly plate is available for purchase. Any additional inventory of add-on items will be available on the Spellbinders Wholesale website after membership orders have been fulfilled.

What if more customers want to join the BetterPress Society midway through the commitment window? Can I add more plates to my order?

No, the initial commitments will be final. Though Spellbinders may order additional plates for ala carte purchase later in the month, these quantities are not guaranteed. For additional customers wanting to join the society, you can take their commitment for the next open enrollment window covering July through December 2024. New commitments will be taken in late March/early April.

What resources will you provide to help customers make the most of the BetterPress Society plates?

A public Facebook group will be created to encourage customers to share projects and inspiration for each monthly plate. The project images will be shared within the Facebook group.

BetterPress society retailers will have access to a printable pdf at the beginning of each month showcasing product inspiration for that month that can be offered as a freebie to customers or used as inspiration for a class or tutorial.

We will also provide a public YouTube video introducing the BetterPress Society that you can share with customers.

Will I be able to get a plate that I can demo in my store and make samples with?

Retailers that subscribe to 10 plates/month will get the 11^th plate for half off ($6); retailers that subscribe to 20 or more plates/month will get a demo plate for free.

What if I can’t commit to 6 plates per month? Can I still participate?

Yes, you’ll be able to order the overstock of the BetterPress society plate for $15.00 once it becomes available on the Spellbinders Wholesale site, but these quantities are not guaranteed.

When do I need to commit by?

We will need commitments to be submitted by October 8^th, 2023. You can place your commitment by filling out the form here.

How do I sign up?

Fill out the form here or click the sign up button below and let us know what your commitment will be. Once the enrollment window closes on October 8^th, you’ll receive a confirmation email to let you know that you’re an official BetterPress Society member!

Can I change the number of plates I’ve ordered after my commitment is made?

Until October 8^th, you can change the number of plates in your commitment by filling out the form here. Only the latest dated commitment will be counted.

After October 8^th, commitments are final for the six-month commitment period and cannot be changed.
